Creating A Style Defined By My Personality, Not By My Size: Amanda’s Story

Amanda Lund is a Brand Storyteller who wanted to create a personal style that reflected her fun, creative personality but was limited by the plus size selections she was comfortable with. Here’s her story.

The struggle to find stylish and comfortable plus size clothing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As an adult I discovered stores like Lane Bryant and Torrid, which quickly became my exclusive source for clothing. While I was excited to finally find a place where I could try on and walk out of the store with clothing that fit, I frequently found my styles changing, at the mercy of whatever that particular store had to offer. Beggars can’t be choosers, right?

As technology has improved the accessibility of retail in general, it has particularly opened up an opportunity for more clothing to be available in a wider variety of sizes. Seemly overnight, brands that my friends frequently purchased were available in my size. I was thrilled at the amount of freedom there was to choose based on style instead of fit exclusively.

However, the freedom of shopping online is a privilege that some cannot literally afford. With the wide variety of items available also comes an array of sizing charts. Every brand fits differently, and in order to know if something fits you have to pay for it. Add in the complications of some return policies and it’s apparent that plus size shopping can still be a complicated mess.

That’s why I was so grateful when I read Susi’s Plus Size Style Directory.

Finally, I had a simple resource that gave me insight into the array of plus size clothing sites online, complete with tips and advice straight from the style guru herself. In addition to Susi’s directory, we had a conversation about measuring for accurate sizing that put me at ease about future ordering.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work with Susi and to learn more about creating a style defined by my personality and not by my size. Thanks Susi!

It’s about time the fashion world started making clothes for larger sizes. How lucky are we to have Susi to help with styling. I’m excited to get on her schedule. I’ve needed her services for a long time.
